Apartment Conversion, 2003, Metzerstraße, Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg
»Sample«: The old apartment in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg with it's texture and rhythm is the basis on which we collage the new beats. The interventions are new parts from other apartments, which remind of somewhere else and evoke a deja-vue. It is not about adaptation, not pure refurbishment or modernization of an old apartment. The tension between old texture and the intervention creates the athmosphere of the new living space. Every part is recognizable as it is. The superimposition of several space-zones creates different living situations. A piece of furniture does not come alone, it rather changes the structure of walls, floors and ceilings.
The interventions are: Woodkitchn (1), Step-Furniture (2) and Light-Channel, Think-Capsular (3), Chüllürüm (4), Magic Gate(5), Dream-Laboratory (6), Double-Chamber-Wall (7), Sluice-Wall (8) and Pool (9)
